Finalists for this year’s Prometheus Award for Best Novel have been announced. Finalists for the Hall of Fame category were announced earlier.

Last year’s winner was Rich Man’s Sky by Wil McCarthy. Of this year’s finalists, C.J. Carey’s Widowland is also on the shortlist for this year’s Philip K. Dick Award.

Finalists for this year’s Lambda Literary Awards have been announced in a wide range of categories. Titles in the LBGTQ+ Speculative Fiction category are compiled in this database. The Locus link below lists genre titles nominated in other categories.

The awards have been made in SF/fantasy and speculative fiction categories since 1989. Last year’s winner was No Gods, No Monsters by Cadwell Turnbull.

This year’s winner will be announced June 9, in New York City.

Finalists have been announced for this year’s Aurealis Awards, for works of Australian science fiction, fantasy, and horror published in 2022. Winners will be announced in Caberra on June 3, 2023.

Aurealis Awards have been presented since 1996, when winners included Greg Egan and Garth Nix. Last year’s winners included Kathryn Barker, C. S. Pacat, and Ben Pienaar.

Finalists and winners are determined by separate groups of judges for each genre. Thus it’s not uncommon for some works to be nominated in more than one category. This year, for example, Kathryn Hore’s The Stranger in both the SF novel and Horror novel categories, and Trent Jamieson’s The Stone Road in both the Fantasy novel and Horror novel categories.

Finalists for this year’s Andre Norton and Ray Bradbury awards, presented by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA) in association with the 58th Annual Nebula Awards, have been announced.

The Andre Norton Award, for young adult books, last year went to Darcie Little Badger’s A Snake Falls to Earth; this year’s finalists are shown above and are listed at the link.

The Ray Bradbury Award, for dramatic presentations, last year went to the writers of Season 1 of the TV series WandaVision. This year’s finalists are the writers of the “One Way Out” episode of Andor, the film Everything Everwhere All at Once (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), the film Nope (Jordan Peele), and the TV series Our Flag Means Death, The Sandman (Season 1), and Severance. Finalists for the 58th annual Nebula Awards, to be awarded in 2023 for works published in 2022, have been announced in categories for novel, novella, novelette, short story, and game writing. (Associated SFWA awards for YA fiction and dramatic presentation will be posted shortly.)

Last year’s winner were P. Djèlí Clark, Premee Mohamed, Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki, Sarah Pinsker, and six credited writers for the game Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

Ekpeki won last year for novelette “O2 Arena”; other previous winners on this year’s list are Nicola Griffith, for the novel Slow River in 1997, Kelly Robson, for novelette “A Human Stain” in 2018, and John Wiswell, for short story “Open House on Haunted Hill” in 2021.

This year’s results will be announced Sunday, May 14, 2023, during the 2023 Nebula Conference Online held online and in-person in Anaheim, CA.
