2023 Mythopoeic Awards Finalists

Finalists for this year’s Mythpoeic Awards, given by the Mythopoeic Society for fantasy fiction and nonfiction since 1976, have been announced. Eligibility in nonfiction categories spans three years; thus some titles, including this year those by Fiddes, Grybauskas, Garth, Ogden, and Elber-Aviram have been nominated once or twice before.

Last year’s winners were books by Jo Walton, Lori M. Lee and Eden Royce (in a tie for children’s lit), Holly Ordway, and Philip Ball.

This year’s winners will be announced in an online ceremony on August 6, 2023.

2023 Aurora Nominations

Nominations for this year’s Aurora Awards, given to works by Canadians since 1980, have been announced. This years ballot includes a new category, for “Best Cover Art/Interior Illustration.” Winners will be announced in an online ceremony on August 19, 2023.

Last year’s winners included Fonda Lee, Wab Kinew, Phoebe Barton, and Premee Mohamed.

Winners of this year’s Nebula Awards, presented by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, were announced May 14th at the Nebula Awards Banquet in Anaheim, California, along with winners of the associated Andre Norton and Ray Bradbury Awards. Winners of awards already announced, the Grand Master, the Solstice, and the Service to SFWA, were also presented.

Best Novel winner R.F. Kuang has one previous Nebula nomination, and novella winner C.L. Polk two previous nominations. These are the first nominations, and wins, for novelette winner John Chu and short story winner Samantha Mills.

All four of their works are currently finalists for this year’s Locus Awards.

2023 Locus Awards Finalists

The top ten finalists in each category for this year’s Locus Awards have been announced. Results are based on the Locus Poll conducted from February 1st to April 15th. Winners will be announced June 24, 2023, at a ceremony in downtown Oakland, California. See here for details.

Last year’s winners included novels in various categories by Arkady Martine, Fonda Lee, Stephen Graham Jones, Charlie Jane Anders, and P. Djèlí Clark, plus winners in eleven other categories.

British Science Fiction Association Awards went to Adrian Tchaikovsky, Aliette de Bodard, Frances Hardinge, Rob Wilkins, and Alyssa Winans.

The Philip K. Dick Award went to Kimberly Unger, with a special citation to Tade Thompson.
