Nominees for this year’s Shirley Jackson Awards, given annually since 2008 for achievements in horror, psychological suspense, and dark fantasy fiction, have been announced. Winners will be announced at Readercon on July 15, 2023.

Last year’s winners included Stephen Graham Jones, Zin E. Rocklyn, E.A. Petricone, Isabel J. Kim, Keith Rosson, and Eric J. Guignard in a tie with dave ring. There was also a special award to Ellen Datlow.

Winners of this year’s Bram Stoker Awards, presented by the Horror Writers Association, include works by Gabino Iglesias, Christi Nogle, Robert P. Ottone, Daniel Kraus, Alma Katsu, Mercedes M. Yardley, Cassandra Khaw, Ellen Datlow, Tim Waggoner, Lee Murray, James Aquilone, Cynthia Pelayo, and the writers of The Black Phone and Stranger Things. Lifetime Achievement awards were presented to Elizabeth Massie, Nuzo Onoh, and John Saul.

Finalists for this year’s Arthur C. Clarke Award, given annually since 1987 to the best SF novel published each year in the UK, have been announced.

This year’s authors are all first-time finalists for the award. (And only Swift and de Bodard have any previous entries in this entire database.) The winner will be announced in London on August 16, 2023.

Last year’s winner was Harry Josephine Giles’ Deep Wheel Orcadia.

This year’s finalists for the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, given annually since 1987 for the best short science fiction story, have been announced. The winner will be announced in September 2023 at the second annual Sturgeon Symposium.

Last year’s winner was “Broad Dutty Water: A Sunken Story” by Nalo Hopkinson.
