This Year’s Shirley Jackson Awards Winners

Winners of this year’s Shirley Jackson Awards, for works of horror, psychological suspense, and dark fantasy fiction, are Gabino Iglesias, Sophie White, Angela Slatter, Nghi Vo, Kim Fu, Paula D. Ashe, and Doug Murano.

All are first time winners; Angela Slatter had an earlier nomination in 2022; Kim Fu had another nomination this year; Doug Murano had an earlier nomination in 2021.

2023 Eugie Award Finalists

Finalists for this year’s Eugie Foster Memorial Award, given since 2016 for a work of short fiction, have been announced. The winner is traditionally presented at Dragon Con, to be held this year in Atlanta from August 31 to September 4, 2023.

All of this year’s finalists are first-time finalists for this award.

2023 Le Guin Prize Shortlist

       
     

Shortlisted titles for the second annual Ursula K. Le Guin Prize were announced July 22, 2023. Date and place for announcement of the winner have not been released.

Rebecca Campbell’s title was also a Philip K. Dick Award finalist. Khalid’s title was nominated for The Kitschies. Lemberg’s collection placed 8th in that category of the Locus Poll. Griffith’s novel was a Nebula finalist and placed 5th for fantasy novel in the Locus Poll. Jimenez’s novel won the Crawford/IAFA Fantasy Award, and is currently a finalist for the Ignyte Awards.

2023 Prometheus Awards Winners

Winners of this year’s Prometheus Awards for pro-freedom works are David Freer’s Cloud-Castles and Robert A. Heinlein’s “Free Men.” The awards will be presented in an online ceremony in mid-August, date and time to be announced.
