2023 Ignyte Winners

Winners of the Ignyte Awards, which “seek to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the current and future landscapes of science fiction, fantasy, and horror by recognizing incredible feats in storytelling and outstanding efforts toward inclusivity of the genre,” were announced October 21st, and include N.E. Davenport, Trace Deonn, Claribel Ortega, Nghi Vo, John Chu, Tobi Ogundiran, Ai Jiang, Aimee Campbell, and others.

2023 Hugo, Astounding, and Lodestar Winners

Winners of these three awards, announced Oct 21, 2023 at the World Science Fiction Convention in Chengdu, China, include T. Kingfisher, Seanan McGuire, Hai Ya, Samantha Mills, Adrian Tchaikovsky among Hugo winners; Nnedi Okorafor for the Lodestar Award; and Travis Baldree for the Astounding Award for Best New Writer.

This is the second Hugo win, out of five nominations, for T. Kingfisher, though the author has won two others under the name Ursula Vernon.

This is the sixth Hugo win for Seanan McGuire; she won twice last year, including one for the “Wayward Children” series, of which this year’s winning novella is a part.

Samantha Mills has now won four major awards, the Hugo, Nebula, Sturgeon, and Locus, for this story.

This is Neil Clarke’s fifth Hugo win, all for Clarkesworld or as editor, short form.

Uncanny has now won seven times for Best SemiProzine.
